The Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings rallied to come back from a three-goal deficit, but couldn’t find the extra gear Monday night, falling 5-4 to Prairie Storm. With the loss, the Wings now drop to 0-2 on the season.

Prairie Storm moved out to a quick 3-0 lead in the second period, before Rylan Nieszner broke the goose egg for Weyburn. He scored a short-handed goal just under five minutes into the middle frame, with Brogan Schmeltzer getting the assist.

Shortly after the Neiszner goal, Sam Chittenden got in on the action, with Schmeltzer getting the assist on the goal for his second of the game. The Wings then evened things up at 3-3 when Kyle Perras found the back of the net with just over 11 minutes left in the period. Tanner Rowland was credited with the assist on the goal.

Before the end of the period, Prairie Storm would take the lead again on a power play goal, but it didn’t take long for Weyburn to reply. Gavin Doud would score with just under three and a half minutes left in the period to make it a 4-4 game heading into the third period.

With 7:30 left in the game, Prairie Storm took the lead. The Wings threw everything they had at the opposition, looking for the tying goal, but came up just short.

The next game for the Midget AA Wings is Wednesday night. They host the Estevan TS&M Bruins at Crescent Point Place.
