The most potent offense in the South Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League continued to show its dominance last night. The Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings outscored the Notre Dame Hounds 6-1 at home, the third win in a row for the Wings, with all three being in dominant fashion.

The Wings opened the scoring late in the first period when Kyler Douglas scored on the power play with just over four minutes remaining. Brogan Schmeltzer and Gavin Doud assisted on the goal. Rylan Neizner would then score an even-strength goal, assisted by Joel Niemegeers, with 2:39 remaining in the first period.

The Wings began to pull away in the second, as Todd Johnson, assisted by Ty Stadnick and Matthew Dutchak. Schmeltzer then added a power-play goal to his point total for the night, getting the helpers from Neizner and Niemegeers.

Thomas Goranson scored just before the halfway mark of the second, assisted by Mitchell McDonald, giving Weyburn a 5-0 lead. Then, the Hounds broke the shutout bid of Dutchak. Nick Smith scored what would prove to be the lone goal for the Hounds with nine minutes remaining in the second period.

Spencer Ordahl would round out the scoring for the Wings in the final minutes of the second with the third power play goal of the night for the Wings. He was assisted by Kyle Perras and Niemegeers, who finished the game with three helpers.

The Wings now find themselves seven points back of the Regina Rangers for first in the league. The Wings have a record of 9-3-2, and the second highest win percentage in the league, at .714. They will have the chance to make up more ground this weekend. They host the Swift Current Midget AA Broncos Sunday at Crescent Point Place.
