The score was 7-0 before the end of the first period, and the Weyburn Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings would continue to dominate the scoreboard, beating the visiting Notre Dame Hounds 9-3 at Crescent Point Place Tuesday night. With the win, the Wings improve their record on the season to 2-5 and sit just six points back of Swift Current for first place.

The scoring for the Wings began before the game was five minutes old. Mitchell McDonald put the puck past Notre Dame netminder Will Reagan at the 3:45 mark, assisted by Parker Douglas. Kyle Perras then added to the lead less than two minutes later with an unassisted tally.

Rylan Neiszner got in on the scoring before the period was even halfway over. His goal was assisted by Gavin Doud. Then, Baron Lawrence made if 4-0 Weyburn with 10:57 left on the clock in the second, assisted by Brogan Schmeltzer and McDonald.

Rylan Erb would add an unassisted goal a few moments later, and McDonald scored his second of the game. Sam Chittenden would round out the scoring for the Wings before the period was out, assisted by Erb and Hudson Hall.

The Hounds wouldn’t reply until the 5:40 mark of the second period. Jaydon Stewart scored a power-play goal for the visitors. Keegan Willier-Ferguson had the assist on the goal.

The Wings would restore the lead to seven goals when Neiszner notched his second marker of the night. Perras and Tanner Rowland assisted on the goal. Doud would then score a goal of his own on the power play, making it 9-1 Weyburn with 11:13 left on the clock in the second period.

From there, the Hounds were able to bring themselves closer on the scoreboard but were never really back in the game. Before the second period ended, James Hardwicke-Brown and Andrew Karum scored for Notre Dame, making the 9-3 final.

The Wings will now prepare for their next game on Monday. They travel to Regina to take on the Vics.
