Cordel Larson is one step closer to being a member of the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs. The Weyburn native signed with the club Tuesday. Larson, who plays with the Notre Dame Hounds Midget AAA program, was at Chiefs training camp this year.

Larson was drafted by the Chiefs in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft after playing with the Notre Dame Hounds Bantam AAA team. That season, he had 30 points in 39 games. The previous season, he played with the Weyburn Bantam AA Wings, scoring 11 goals and 13 assists in 30 games.

The 16-year-old forward played 42 games last year with the Notre Dame Hounds Midget AAA team, picking up five goals and thirteen assists. He also played in one regular season game with the Weyburn Red Wings, where he scored a goal. He skated in one SJHL playoff game but was held off the scoresheet.
