It was quite the homecoming for former Weyburn Red Wing captain Cade Kowalski as his Flin Flon Bomberd clawed out a 3–2 overtime win on the road. Weyburn led for a large part of the game, but were unable to hold off the Bombers charge in the third period.

Drew Anderson scored with just 2:25 to go in the first period with a bardown snipe to put his side up 1–0. Carson Scheschuk set him up with a perfect pass, while Ty Brown and Dawson McKenzie did some good work to get the puck back for the Wings.

Goaltender Cody Levesque weathered the storm early and often as Flin Flon's deep forwards group fired 39 shots his way. It was another standout performance for the 18-year-old rookie netminder.

After some pre-game excitement and nerves, Kowalski evened the score aginst his old mates with his 20th goal of the season in the second period. It was his first of three points on the night.

Also playing against his former team, McKenzie played hard all night and was rewarded with a goal of his own early in the third. He made a sweet toe drag move on a two-on-one before sniping top shelf in tight over the Flon goalie. It was a beauty and looked like it would stand as the game-winner for a while.

Cue Kowalski. His second of the game tied things back up at 2–2 with just 5:28 remaining in the third. Red Wing fans have seen him score a number of clutch goals in his career, but this was his first against Weyburn.

The Red Wings played well and earned a point, but they were hungry for more playing against their former captain. A great chance early in OT for Scehschuk was denied by Gabriel Waked. Kowalski would eventually set up Daylan Marchi for the winning-goal after a Red Wing turnover in their own zone just 58 seconds into the extra session. It was a disappointing end result for the Wings, but a they did take home a single point.

The one point pulls them closer to Melville for the 10th and final playoff spot. It sets up a huge weekend of games for the Wings, as they have just eight games to go on the season.

Notre Dame comes to town on Friday night, while the Red Wings travel to Estevan on Saturday.
