Free-agent National running back Jerome Messam, originally from Ontario, returns to the Saskatchewan Roughriders after playing with the Calgary Stampeders for the past two and a half seasons with the Calgary Stampeders.

Messam started 17 regular-season games for the Stamps last season, picking up 1,016 yards and nine touchdowns on 215 carries. He added 26 carries for 133 yards and two touchdowns through the West Final and Grey Cup.

Messam's has a total of 5,484 rushing yards, 1997 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns, in 125 career games. He is a three-time division all-star and two-time CFL all-star.

Messam was last with the Riders in 2014 and part of the 2015 season.

He has also played with B.C Lions, Montreal Alouettes and Edmonton Eskimos over the past eight years of his career.
