The Toronto Blue Jays took both games in a doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals Tuesday. It was just the third time the Jays have hosted a doubleheader at the Rogers Centre. The last time was in 2001 against the Cleveland Indians. The Jays are also undefeated when playing a doubleheader at home since 1989.

The doubleheader was made necessary after ice fell off the neighboring CN Tower on Monday due to the ice storm which paralyzed the region. The ice damaged the roof of the stadium.

In the first game, the Jays used a six-run sixth inning as the catalyst to an 11-3 victory over the Royals. It started with a three-run blast from Randal Grichuk. Yangervis Solarte also homered for the Jays, his shot coming in the first inning.

Jaime Garcia went five innings on the mound for the Jays to pick up his second win of the season. He surrendered three runs on five hits.

In the second game, the Royals had a 3-0 lead heading into the seventh, when the Jays took over. With bases loaded, Luke Maile singled in a pair of runs, followed by an RBI single from Devon Travis. Steve Pearce then brought in Maile for the go-ahead run with a single of his own.

The Royals tied the game up in the eighth, and neither team was able to score in the ninth, forcing extra innings. There, Maile drove in the game-winning run with a single to shallow right.

The Jays improve their record to 11-5 and have won six of their last seven. They close out the three-game set against the Royals today at Rogers Centre. J.A. Happ goes to the mound for Toronto, while Kansas City replies with Ian Kennedy.
