The Weyburn Iron Pigs wrapped up their regular season with a doubleheader against the Regina Rangers at Tom Laing Park. The Two teams would split the games, as Regina won the first matchup 3-2, but the Iron Pigs all over Regina in the second, winning 14-0.

In the first game, the Rangers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first, but the Pigs rallied back, tying the game up in the third. It would be a lone run in the fifth, though, which would be the difference, as Regina picked up the run.

Adam Wilson had a strong performance on the mound, going four innings. He also struck out five.

In the second game, the Iron Pigs were all over the Rangers right from the start. Weyburn scored six runs in the first inning alone, and didn’t let up.

Mike Onstad led the way for Weyburn with three RBI, while Luke Niemegeers and Kyle Hoium had two each.

Justin Beahm pitched four innings, striking out three, as he earned the shutout victory on the mound.

With the regular season finished with a record of 5-9-2, the Iron Pigs now prepare for the playoffs. They will be playing the Dodgers in Regina in the wildcard round on Wednesday.
