The Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings hit the road to Morden, Manitoba for the Thanksgiving Classic on the weekend, and came out with a decent showing. They Midget AAA female team finished with a record of 2-2 at the annual event.

The tournament featured six teams, four from Manitoba and two from Saskatchewan, playing four games each over the course of three days. Saskatchewan was represented by the Gold Wings and the Regina Rebels. Manitoba was represented by the Yellowhead Chiefs, Central Plains Capitals, Interlake Lightning and the host Pembina Valley Hawks.

The Gold Wings opened the tournament Friday evening, taking on the Yellow Head Chiefs. The Chiefs picked the win with a 5-1 final.

Saturday morning, play resumed for the Gold Wings as they took on the host Pembina Valley Hawks. The Hawks would be the ones to come away with the early win, shutting Weyburn out 5-0. From there, the Gold Wings would turn their weekend around.

Saturday afternoon, they were back on the ice, taking on the Central Plains Capitals. The Gold Wings won the game by a 2-1 final. In the final game of the weekend, Sunday, the Gold Wings would beat Interlake 5-1.

The Gold Wings are now off until October 17th. They will be hosting the Regina Rebels at Crescent Point Place.
