The Weyburn Red Wings will be back on home ice tonight when they host the Yorkton Terriers at Crescent Point Place. This Viterra Division matchup is the third of the season between the two squads, and the second here in Weyburn. The Red Wings took both previous games, winning 6-4 in the season opener, and following it up with a 5-3 win in Yorkton.

The Red Wings come into the game with a bit of a slump on home ice, having dropped their last two at CPP. Those include a 4-2 loss to Nipawin at home on Remembrance Day, and a 7-0 rout at the hands of the Battlefords Stars. The Wings will be looking to bounce back from those two games tonight.

Jack Burgart has carried the bulk of the work in the pipes for the Red Wings this season, with Carter Phair stepping in as needed in relief, and to give Burgart some rest. The two have combined to allow the fewet goals of any tandem in the league this season, with 58 goals allowed in 23 games.

Offensively for the Red Wings, the line of Braden Mellon, Aidan Teilborg and Drake Glover continues to click, accounting for 34 per cent of the goals for the team this year. Mellon has 27 points on the season, while Glover and Teilborg have 23 and 20 respectively. But when that line is shut down, other players have been able to step up to help out, including first year forward Carson Rose, who has 11 points, and Tyran Brown, who has 10. With every player on the roster having at least one point, the Red Wings can look to almost any skater on the ice to help chip in offensively.

For the Terriers, they will be relieved to face a new opponent. Their last three games have all been against the La Ronge Ice Wolves, and all three were losses. Looking to break the slump, Yorkton will have stiff competition here in Weyburn. The Wings have only lost three games at home all season, and Yorkton is still struggling to get their goals against down. The 93 goals given up by their netminders so far this year is the second highest in the league.

The Terriers have been stellar when they get the man advantage this year, though. They have converted on 27 per cent of their power plays, tops in the league. They have been making teams pay for mental mistakes, like taking a minor penalty. The co-ordination on the power play, as well as the performance of the young squad, has many scratching their heads as to why the Terriers are slumping, but it does all fall back on goaltending.

One player to watch on the Terriers is Carson Welke. The 16-year-old forward leads the team in points, with 20. He also leads the team in penalty minutes, and assists. Not turning 17 until next year, he has many years to come in the SJHL, and could be looked to to help the Terriers return to the Canalta Cup in coming years.

The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Crescent Point Place.
