Following last week's road trip the Weyburn Red Wings are back on home ice tonight. They welcome the Kindersley Klippers to Crescent Point Place in what promises to be a good contest.

Both sides have been playing some good hockey lately, with the Klippers coming in winners of five in a row. However, this will be their third game in three nights and the Wings should be able to jump on them. Weyburn hasn't played since last Saturday in Nipawin.

These teams have met twice already this season, splitting the two meetings. The home team has won both games, with Weyburn winning 2–0 on Nov. 5 and Kindersley claiming a 6–2 victory on Nov. 17. The Klippers enter play with a 19–8–3 of a total of 41 points and second spot in the Global Ag Risk Solutions Division. Weyburn meanwhile sits with a 10–16–3 record and 23 points on the season and find themselves in the 10th and final playoff spot.

By the sounds of it, the Red Wings will be a bit shorthanded for tonight's game. Forwards Drew Anderson, Jordan Kazymyra and Connor Pyne will all be out tonight. Some juggling of the lines will definitely be in order and it will be interesting to see what assistant coach Jeff Schaeffer concocts. They still do have plenty of skill and it's a matter of players stepping up to fill the void.

Kindersley, on the other hand, is known for their hard work and depth. Despite having nine more wins than the Red Wings, they've only scored eight more goals. They're a team that rolls four lines, never takes a shift off and tries to wear down opponents. It also helps they have one of the top goaltenders in the league in Justin Close. He's second in the league in wins, goals against average and save percentage.

Goal scoring has been a big part of the Red Wings woes this season and they'll be in for a tough test again tonight. The Klipps have also had their own problems scoring goals and it could be a defensive and goaltending battle at CPP.

Defenceman Eric Soar will make his home debut for the red and white tonight and he looks to be a standout player on the blue line. He's found a spot on the top powerplay unit with a hard slap shot and can be a difference maker for the Wings.

Home ice has been kind to the Wings this year, as they have seven wins at Crescent Point Place. That's compared to just three on the road. They have beaten some top teams in the league at home, including these Kindersley Klippers just 30 days ago.

Prediction: Weyburn 3, Kindersley 1
