Weyburn Comprehensive School was the scene for the Girls 5A provincial high school volleyball championships on the weekend. Ten teams from across the province converged on Weyburn for the tournament.

The WCS Eagles, as the host team, qualified for the tournament, and found themselves in a pool with Saskatoon St. Joseph, Swift Current, Prince Albert Carlton and Regina Miller.

They opened the tournament against Swift Current, who came out with a 2-0 victory. Then, in the second game of the day, Carlton edged past Weyburn 2-1. The Eagles closed out the opening day Friday with a 2-0 loss to St. Joseph. 

On Saturday, the Eagles closed out the round-robin with a win, beating Miller 2-1.

Weyburn drew Regina’s Campbell Collegiate in the quarterfinals, bit were in tough. The Eagles would come up short, falling 2-0.

Campbell would go on to win the tournament, beating Saskatoon Bishop Mahoney 2-0.
