Graham DeLaet has withdrawn from The Northern Trust. He made the decision Friday morning, after playing the first hole of the second round of the tournament.

DeLaet, who had battled through back pain at the PGA Championship just two weeks ago, was well behind the leaders when he made the decision, sitting in a tie for 102nd, 10 strokes off the leaders. He had fired a 4-over 74 in the first round on Thursday.

The Northern Trust, formerly known as The Barclays, is the first round of the FedEx Cup playoff. The top-100 in the FedEx Cup rankings at the end of this tournament advance to the next round.

DeLaet entered the tournament ranked 67th, and is projected to be 78th at the conclusion of this tournament. This would allow him to qualify for the next round, the Dell Technologies Championships slated for next weekend in Boston. The tournament is formerly known as the Deutsche Bank Championship.
