The front nine proved to be a setback for Weyburn's Graham DeLaet in the first round of the Puerto Rico Open in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

DeLaet started on the back nine this morning, sinking two birdies on the par 4 14th and par 5 18th.

However, one birdie on the par 5 fifth wouldn't make up for the two bogeys on the third and eighth holes, and a double bogey on his final ninth hole.

DeLaet ended the first round, having shot one-over 73.

As of 4:30 p.m. Saskatchewan time, he sits tied at 104th place.

DeLaet is to tee-off in the second round on Friday at 10 a.m. Saskatchewan time.
