Graham DeLaet had a rough Sunday at the RBC Heritage Open in Hilton Head, South Carolina Sunday, but it wasn’t enough to shake up what was his best performance of the season. The Weyburn native finished the weekend 10-under, and was three strokes back of first, picking up a sixth place finish, his fourth Top 10 finish of the 2017 campaign.

DeLaet had been leading for much of the weekend, and had entered play on Sunday in second place, just one stroke back of the lead. Bogey trouble on the opening nine holes would prove to be the problem for him, though.

After a birdie on the second hole, a bogey on No. 3 moved him back to even. He would continue to trade birdie for bogey throughout the opening nine, until the eighth hole. There, he hit the water to the left of the fairway on his tee shot. Having to make up ground from the rough on the par-4, he found himself just under nine feet to the hole on his fifth shot, but ended up three-putting to finish up, and recorded the triple bogey.

DeLaet closed out the first nine holes with another birdie, putting him at 1-over for the round, and then made the turn. He ran into more bogey trouble on the final nine holes, though. Two bogeys, one on 10, and another on 14, was countered somewhat by a birdie on 12. He would enter the clubhouse with a 2-over 73 for the day, putting him at -10 for the tournament.

With his finish, the strong year for DeLaet continues. He is currently 56th in the FedEx Cup rankings, jumping up 16 spots. He is also ranked 128th in the world, unchanged after this weekend’s tournament. His year is also on pace to be his best since 2014 when it comes to earnings, as he is at $881,918 so far this year. Last year, and in 2015, he failed to break with $1 million mark.

DeLaet will be off for the coming weekend, before he returns to the course on the final weekend of April. He will be playing in the Zurich Classic in New Orleans, which opens April 27th.
