It wasn’t the best of weekends for Weyburn’s Graham DeLaet at the Dell Technologies Championship. The tournament, which is the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs, was the final tournament of the season for DeLaet, who finished the tournament at 7-over, and in a tie for 75th place.

His position on the leaderboard saw DeLaet drop two spots in the FedEx Cup rankings to 76th. This is outside of the top 70, who advance to the next leg of the tournament.

DeLaet came out firing Monday, looking to make up ground after a forgettable 9-over on Sunday. He started off with a birdie on Hole 5 but then would find himself behind just two holes later.

After hitting a fairway bunker with his second shot on the monstrous 600 yard par-5 seventh hole, he overshot the pin with his next shot. When chipping onto the green from the rough, he came up just short. He then ended up two-putting from within four feet of the cup.

On the back nine, DeLaet recovered a bit. While he did have a bogey on the 12th hole, his play on the last three was impressive.

On the par-3 16th, his tee shot ended up just 13 feet from the cup, and he drained the putt for his second birdie of the day. On the next hole, a par-4, he put his approach on the fringe at the back of the green, He made the 12-foot putt for his second birdie in a row. On the final hole of the day, a 530-yard par-5, he nearly reached the green on his second shot, coming up just short. He would chip on, and then sink a 13-foot putt for the birdie, giving him three in a row to close out the round.

DeLaet will now take some time off, before looking at the schedule for the next PGA Tour season. The 2017-18 PGA Tour season starts with the Safeway Open, October 2-8.
