An exciting weekend of curling wrapping up at the Weyburn Curling Club on the weekend, as the Mixed Doubles Provincial Championships took over the sheets.

By the end of the day Sunday, the team of Jill de Gooijer and Garret Springer were champions. The team from the Highland Curling Club in Regina beat the team of Chaelynn Kitz and Brayden Stewart, curling out of Saskatoon’s Nutana Club, 10-5.

There were six teams either curling out of the Weyburn Curling Club, or with curlers from Weyburn, competing in the event.

In Pool A, Shayla Moore and Braden Grindheim finished the round robin with a record of 3-2. They played a tiebreaker against the team of Ashley Quick and Mike Armstrong but came up just short, falling 9-4.

Weyburn’s Rachel Ryan, curling with Cody Sutherland, finished the round robin with a record of 2-3. Emma Wiens, curling out of Wadena with Nathen Pomedli, finished with a record of 1-4.

In Pool C, there were three teams from Weyburn competing. Abbey Johnson and Brayden Fleischhaker, the under 18 mixed doubles champions, finished with a record of 2-3, as did Danette Tracey and Landon Field. The team of Ashley Becker and Ryan Skjerdal finished the round robin with a record of 0-5.
