Student-athletes from southeast Saskatchewan are off to Delisle this weekend, where they will be running in the provincial cross country championships. In all, there will be 57 runners from 15 schools, including seven from Weyburn Comprehensive, four from Radville Regional and one from Midale Central.

The Weyburn runners include Lorynn Labbie, Alexis Vandermey, Arliss Sidloski and Zoe Thompson running in the senior girls' event. The lone senior boys representative is Steven Mlynarski. Alejandro Olivera is the only junior boys representative from WCS, and from the midget girls group is Emma Zieglgansberger.

The four athletes from Weyburn who will be competing in the race are Kaelyn Bert and Hailey Verhelst running in the midget girls group. Hendrick Buys is the lone competitor from Radville in the midget boys group and Conner Cherpin will race in the junior boys' group.

The lone participant from Midale Central School is Bradon Zieglgansberger. He is in the senior boys' competition.

Weyburn has had success at the provincial championships in the past. Last year Kaitlyn Harrison finished in first place in the senior girls' group, with a top 20 finish from Mahteya Dumelie in the same race. Other top 20 finishers from last year include Kira Barham in the midget girls and Arliss Sidloski in the junior girls' race.

This is the second time in three years the provincial championships have been held in Delisle, as they were held there in 2016.

Here is a look at the course the athletes will be running this year.
