For many baseball and softball players across Saskatchewan, this weekend is championship weekend as a number of tournaments to crown provincial championships are being held, including one here in Weyburn. 

Jubilee Park will be the scene of the U11 AA Tier 1 Provincials, with 12 teams taking part, including the Weyburn Beavers. Also visiting the Opportunity City are the Yorkton Cardinals, Lloydminster Twins, Saskatoon Bad News Braves, SK5 Giant Sliders, Swift Current 57s, White Butte Broncos, Battlefords Beavers, Saskatoon Royals 64, Muenster Red Sox, Moose Jaw Canucks and North East Expos. The U12 Weyburn Wild are in Regina for the U12 Open South Green Provincial Championships. They are in a pool with the Regina Royals Raiders, Moosomin Predators and Estevan Elite. Also playing in the tournament – Carlyle Cardinals, Quad Town Steelers, Lafleche Lightning and Melville Mils. The Wild open up the tournament Friday afternoon. Muenster is the home of the U13 AA Tier 1 Championship. The Weyburn Beavers will be playing in that event, and are in a pool with the Unity Cardinals, Watrous Lakers and Humboldt Dodgers. The other pool includes the Tisdale Rangers, Melville Millionaires, Prince Albert Royals and Muenster Red Sox. The Beavers open the tournament Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. against Unity. The U15 AA Tier 2 Championships are being played in Saskatoon, and the Weyburn Beavers will be off to that even. They are in a pool with the Esterhazy Cyclones, Unity Cardinals and Saskatoon A’s. The other pool includes the Saskatoon Cardinals, Battleford Beavers, Eston Ramblers and Saskatoon Blue Jay Birds. Weyburn opens up the round-robin Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. against the A’s. In Regina, the U16 Weyburn Wild will be playing in the Open Girls Green Provincial Championship. They are in a pool with the Melville Miss Mils, Southeast SuperNovas, Battleford Bandits and Tisdale Riverdogs. The other pool consists of the White Butte Storm, Assiniboia Southern Storm, Unity Panthers, Hague/Rosthern Valley Valkyries and Shellbrook Parkland Heat. The weekend's full schedule can be seen here.
