It was a busy weekend for Weyburn Minor Ball, with teams playing in league tournaments, as well as some regular season action for traveling teams.

The Bantam AAA Beavers were at home Sunday evening, as they played host to the Southeast A’s at Jubilee Park. The Beavers put on a clinic, offensively and defensively, winning 11-1. Hudson Neuberger went the distance on the mound to pick up the win. He also helped himself out, hitting a home run. Jayke Smolinski also went yard for the Beavers. The next game for the Bantam AAA Beavers is Wednesday when they head to Alameda for a rematch with the A’s.

The Pee Wee AA Century 21 Hometown Realty Beavers were in Saskatoon for a tournament on the weekend. The Beavers opened the tournament Friday night, where they fell to the Unity Cardinals 6-4 in a closely-fought game. The second round robin game was a 10-7 loss to the Saskatoon A’s. The third game, originally scheduled for the afternoon against the Sask Five Giants was moved to the evening. The game was a loss for the Beavers, who bounced back with a 10-5 win over the Saskatoon Cardinals Sunday morning to close out the tournament.

The Mosquito AA Element Beavers were busy on the diamond at Jubilee Park on the weekend, as they played four games over the two days.

Saturday, they played host to the Regina Buffalos for a doubleheader. In the first game, the Beavers invoked the mercy rule, as they beat the Buffaloes 14-4. In the second game, it was another high scoring affair, with a 16-11 victory for the Beavers. The game saw Silas Stein hit a home run, the first one this season by the Mosquito squad.

Sunday, the Beavers took on the Swift Current 57’s. The Beavers took the first game 16-3, once again having the mercy rule kick in after five innings. The second game was a 17-3 win for Weyburn, once again, shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

The Squirt NSWB Jays were in Estevan for their league tournament Saturday. The girls played well, qualifying for the medal round. Once there, they beat Estevan 25-14 to win the bronze medal.
