With a requirement under CJHL and SJHL rules to have a roster of 25 players or under, there was a lot of movement Sunday as the deadline of 5:00 p.m. approached.

One of the biggest deals of the day saw the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings send Ben Hiltz to the Battlefords North Stars in exchange for Dace Prymak and Jordan Gagnon, as well as a player development fee. Hiltz wasn’t the only big name in the league to move on Sunday, though.

The Melville Millionaires traded forward Luke Spadafora, and a 4th round pick in the 2020 SJHL draft, to the Humboldt Broncos. Coming back to the Millionaires is Zack McIntyre and Spencer Weinkauf. Spadafora, last season’s Rookie of the Year, was acquired from the Broncos by Melville last season for Logan Foster.

The Millionaires also moved Ethan Lahmon to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the MJHL for player development fee and Jaden Hewes to the Truro Bearcats of the Maritime Hockey League for a PDF.

The Estevan Bruins were also active at the deadline, as they traded Kolton Leslie to the Portage Terriers for a PDF. The Bruins then picked up Erik Boers from the Camrose Kodiaks of the AJHL for a PDF.

The Melfort Mustangs were one of the busier teams at the deadline as well, making two moves. The first saw the Mustangs acquire Ryan MacLean from the Grande Prairie Storm of the AJHL in exchange for a PDF. Melfort then sent Ryley Lanthier and a PDF to the Canmore Eagles of the AJHL in exchange for Tian Rask.

The Yorkton Terriers sent Jaxon Blight to the OCN Blizzard of the MJHL for a PDF, and the Kindersley Klippers sent Drayson Collyer to the Virden Oil Capitals of the MJHL for a PDF.

No movement can now be made between the teams in the CJHL until after Christmas. Teams will then have a short window to reduce their roster to 23 cards by the January 10th deadline.
