When the SJHL Board of Governors met at the beginning of June, it was voted on unanimously the league would allow the Humboldt Broncos to select players from the other teams, in the wake of the April 6th tragedy. On Monday, after determining how the selection would take place, the Broncos made their picks.

Humboldt selected Jessie Young from the Weyburn Red Wings. An 18-year-old rookie with the team last season, Young had 19 points in 48 regular season games with Weyburn. The Coquitlam, BC native added one more point in the playoffs.

The Broncos then proceeded to select players from all teams with the exception of the Estevan Bruins and the Flin Flon Bombers.

There was no selection made from the Bombers as a result of a trade made late in the 2017-18 season. When Nick Shumlanski was traded from Flin Flon to Humboldt, there were future considerations attached to the deal. The Bombers waived their future considerations, meaning no other players will be going back to Flin Flon as part of the deal.

The Estevan Bruins made an arrangement with the Broncos for the player to be selected at a later date.

The other players chosen include forward Connor Smith from the Battlefords North Stars, forward Bryson Cecconi from the Kindersley Klippers, forward Shane Hounsell from the La Ronge Ice Wolves, forward Ethan Kopyczyn from the Melville Millionaires, forward Ahmed Ally from the Notre Dame Hounds, forward Kyle Sargent from the Yorkton Terriers, and Eric McNeilly and Ayden Third from the Melfort Mustangs.
