The Big Six Hockey League semi-finals kick off Wednesday night, as the Wawota Flyers travel to Redvers to take on the Rockets. The Flyers enter the semi-finals in the number three seed, while the Rockets were number two.

The Flyers advanced to the semifinals, sweeping Midale in the quarterfinals. Wawota scored 20 goals in those three games, led by Justin Lamontagne and Riley Riddell. The Rockets, on the other hand, were the only series winners to suffer a loss in the opening round. They got by the Carlyle Cougars 3-1 in the best-of-five.

The series opens up at 8:00 p.m. for game one Wednesday night, before heading back to Wawota for game two next Tuesday. Game three will be March 1st back in Redvers.

In the other semi-final series, the Bienfait Coalers take on the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings. The Wheat Kings, in their inaugural season in the Big Six Hockey League, enter the series as the underdogs.

Bienfait has won the league title 15 times, including five of the last six. They come into the series with a potent offence, and will be looking to pick up the series win, for the chance to play for title number 16. Meanwhile, the Wheat Kings have been no slouch of their own this season, and are eager to bring a title back to Yellow Grass. The series opens Friday night in Bienfait, with game two set for next Tuesday back in Yellow Grass.
