In what felt like a playoff game from start to finish, the visiting Redvers Rockets edged the Bienfait Coalers in a Tuesday night thriller.

Dylan Herzberg got the scoring started early for Bienfait, deking out Shane Marsh to give the Coalers a 1-0 lead just minutes into the game. However, that would be the last time the goal light would shine until midway through the 3rd period.

Both Marsh for the Rockets and Jackson Walliser for Bienfait stood on their head at various times throughout the game, with the game remaining 1-0 until Herzberg sniped his second of the game at 9th of the season past Marsh's blocker with just over 13 minutes left to play in regulation.

Trailing 2-0 on the road late, the Redvers Rockets never panicked, and it paid off in the final ten minutes of some wild action. First, Brady Gaudet found the loose puck after a goal-mouth scramble and backhanded it past Walliser for his 11th of the season to make it 2-1.

Then with just under five minutes remaining, Craig Gaudet kept the puck in at the blueline and fired it towards the net. The loose puck would be pounded home by Ryan Yates for his 3rd of the season and tied the game at 2-2.

With no one able to break the deadlock before the end of regulation and in the overtime period, a shootout would be necessary to decide the crucial extra point.

Neither Herzberg or Remi Lamotte could score in the first round of the shootout. In round two, Keegan Malaryk was stopped for Bienfait, while Redvers' captain Jordon Miller deked out Walliser and backhanded home a pretty goal to put Redvers ahead. That meant Brennan Wrigley had to score to keep the shootout going in round three, and he was unable to hit the net with his shot.

Redvers won the game 3-2 and with the extra point, clinches 2nd overall in the Big Six standings heading into playoffs. The Rockets will face the Oxbow Huskies in the first round, Best-of-3 series.

With the single point, Bienfait (29 points) now sits one point behind Wawota (30 points) for 3rd overall and one point ahead of Yellow Grass (28 points) in 5th overall. Each team has two games remaining.
