The Weyburn Beavers made it three wins this week over the Regina Red Sox with a 4-2 victory at Tom Laing Park Thursday night. The win also secures the season series between the two, the first time the Beavers have won the season series against Regina in at least the past five years.

The Beavers came out early, going up 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning. Anthony Wiggins singled home Luis Jimenez with the bases loaded. Carlos Flores followed that up with a double to center that brought in Zach Mathis and Evan Weidner.

Starting pitcher Ryan Johnson went six innings, striking out eight, and walking two, but giving up two runs. Those runs came in the top of the third courtesy the bat of Broderick Rodocker, who hit his seventh home run of the season.

Three pitchers worked the next two innings for the Beavers, with Brodie Stairs, Beau Rabedeaux and Cody Pamperin setting up the close for Eric Evans. Evan would get the three outs needed to record his fourth save of the season.

The Beavers will now enjoy a rare day off this month, as they get ready for the Melville Millionaires Saturday. The Millionaires have taken all four previous meetings between the two teams so far this season.

The game starts at 7:05 p.m. at Tom Laing Park.
