The Weyburn Beavers made it four wins in a row Thursday night, as they topped the Regina Red Sox 6-2 at Currie Field in Regina. It was the second win in as many nights for the Beavers, are second in the WMBL East Division, one game back of the undefeated Moose Jaw Miller Express.

Weyburn was powered by the bat of Corey Harrell. The senior from Knoxville, Iowa had two home runs and five RBI in the game as the designated hitter. The bombs were his first two of the season.

On the mound, Ken Williams got the start, and went six innings allowing two runs, and striking out five to get the victory. Eric Morales finished the game off on the mound, striking out one without allowing a run. The two pitchers combined to hold the Red Sox to just four hits all night, with the runs from the Red Sox coming off a first-inning home run by Griffin Keller.

Harrell’s first home run of the night came in the first inning as well. With two out, and Cam Williams on base, Harrell took the first pitch he saw from Regina’s starter Peyton Burks and put it over the fence.

In the fifth inning, the Beavers, looking to break a 2-2 tie, scored a run thanks to a single to left by Keaton Greenwalt. Cam Williams then reached base on a walk, and Harrell again hit a first-pitch home run, making it a 6-2 game.

The Beavers will now head to Melville Friday to take on the Millionaires. Melville is currently third in the East Division with a record of 3-1.
