The Bantam Creekside Car Wash Wings had a hat trick from Katelyn Thackeray help guide them to a 7-4 win Saturday over Prairie Storm in Pilot Butte. The win was the first regular season victory for the Wings this season.

The Wings opened the scoring just 40 seconds into the game. Trisha Stadnick would score the opening goal of the game, assisted by Presleigh Runge. Prairie Storm replied just 20 seconds later to tie things up again before the Wings regained the lead.

With the first period just five minutes old, Caralyn Weisgerber would score, assisted by Standnick. It looked as though the Wings would be heading to the dressing room for the first intermission with the lead before Prairie Storm scored to make it a 2-2 game.

In the second period, Thackeray and Virginia Harazny took over the scoring, helping the Wings jump out to the lead. Thackeray scored at the 5:23 mark, assisted by Runge, making it 3-2. While Prairie Storm would reply 40 seconds later, Harazny took matters into her own hands.

In a span of just 14 seconds, Harazny scored a pair of goals. The first was unassisted, the second had helpers credited to Thackeray and Madi Doud. While Prairie Storm would score once more before the end of the period, the lead would be Weyburn’s for the rest of the game.

In the third period, Thackery scored twice, the first goal assisted by Weisgerber, and the second of the frame assisted by Harazny.

In goal, Kailyn McFadden was credited with the win for the Wings.

Weyburn will now look to use the momentum from their first win of the season this coming weekend. They will be entertaining the Regina Bisons on Saturday, and Regina Shamrocks on Sunday.
