It was a tough weekend for the Bantam AA Whitecap Resources Wings. They played a pair of games - one at home, one on the road - and came up empty-handed in both.

The weekend kicked off with a game Saturday as they played host to the Battlefords Barons. The Barons came away with a 3-0 win.

The Wings outshot the visitors 39-35 but were unable to solve Battlefords goalie Shae Stewart. The Barons, though, were able to get three of their 35 shots past Wings netminder, Dylan Ernst. Jordan Grill, Matthew Dament and Dallyn Peekeekoot were the goal scorers for the Battlefords.

Sunday, the Wings were in Regina, where they took on the Monarchs. While the Wings were able to get on the board first in the game, they fell 5-3.

Ryker Watt opened the scoring eight minutes into the game. His goal was assisted by Quinn Mantei and Cooper Walbaum. Then, the Monarchs took over.

Declan Cosford scored with 1:35 left in the first period for Regina. The Monarchs would then add two more in the second period, with Kayden Reeder and Zackary Culic scoring on Weyburn goalie Ryan Hicks.

The Monarchs scored one more goal in the third, with Marshall Erichsen getting the tally at the 9:03 mark. Then, the Wings would score two power-play goals back to back. Van Eger scored with 5:06 remaining in regulation, assisted by Ty Mason. Daxin Peterson would add one more with 3:22 left. Walbaum and Watt assisted on the goal.

Erichsen would put the game out of reach for the Monarchs, though, with an insurance goal with 1:18 left in the period.

The Bantam AA Wings will be back on the ice Tuesday. They take on the Swift Current Broncos here in Weyburn.
