It was a weekend of mixed results for the Bantam AA White Cap Resources Wings. They travelled to Melville Saturday, where they skated to a 6-2 win. Sunday afternoon saw them fall 1-0 at the hands of the visiting Saskatoon Stallions.

In Melville, the Wings spotted the Bantam Millionaires a goal in the first period and then took off from there, scoring five unanswered goals to get the ball rolling.

The floodgates opened for Weyburn with a goal from Ty Boren just before the halfway mark of the first period. The power play marker was assisted by Karter Haupstein. Ryker Watt then gave the Wings the lead with his first of the game. The goal was assisted by Daxin Peterson and Cooper Walbaum. The trio would then combine for Watt’s second goal of the period with 3:51 to go in the first.

Walbaum then scored a goal of his own to start off the second period, finding the twine with just under ten minutes left in the middle frame. Watt picked up the assist on the goal. Just nine seconds later Levi Krienke scored a goal, with Quinn Mantei getting the assist.

Melville would score before the second period was over to staunch the flow, but it would be too little, too late.

In the third, Ty Mason scored a power-play goal to end the scoring in the game. Van Eger and Ty Boren picked up the assists in the tally.

Sunday afternoon, the Wings were back home, where they played host to the Saskatoon Stallions. The game would prove to be a goaltenders’ duel.

The visitors scored the lone goal of the game just two minutes in, and then both goaltenders shut the door. Dylan Ernst made 30 saves on 31 shots in goal for the Wings. His counterpart at the other end of the ice, Ethan Chadwick, stopped all 19 shots which went in his direction.

After the games on the weekend, the Wings are in second place in the South Division, just one point back of the Estevan Bantam Bruins. The next game for the Bantam AA Wings is Sunday when they play host to Prairie Storm at Crescent Point Place.
