The Bantam AA Crescent Point Energy Wings opened their series with the Estevan Bantam Bruins Tuesday night and came away with the first win of the best-of-three playoff matchup. The Wings waited until the second period to start their scoring but would build a lead which proved to be insurmountable, taking a 4-1 victory.

The scoring for the Wings started just 49 seconds into the second period, when Rylan Erb scored his first of the postseason. The goal was assisted by Cooper Chisholm.

Less than a minute later, Jake Young scored an unassisted goal, giving Weyburn a 2-1 edge.

The Bruins would reply at the 7:05 mark of the second, with a goal from Mason Fichter. It would be the only goal allowed on the night by Dylan Ernst, who made 19 saves to earn the win.

Weyburn would then build on the lead before the middle period expired. Tanner Rowland scored a power-play goal with 2:07 left on the clock. Ryker Watt and Chisholm assisted on the tally.

The insurance goal came halfway through the third period. Walker Watson scored an unassisted goal, giving Weyburn a 4-1 victory.

The series will come to Weyburn for game two on Thursday. The puck drops at Crescent Point Place at 8:15 p.m.
