It was a good weekend for the Bantam AA Whitecap Resources Wings. They were in Swift Current for a tournament. After dropping their first game of the weekend, they bounced back, and went 3-0 for the rest of the tourney, capturing the B side Final. In addition to the team hardware, Dylan Ernst returned home after being named the top goaltender of the tournament.

The opening game of the tournament on Friday was a rough one for the Wings. They dropped a 4-0 decision to the NEBC Trackers, who are based in Fort St. John, British Columbia. The Wings wouldn’t let the loss deter them, however, and they bounced back for their next game.

The Wings took to the ice against the Beaumont Braves for their second game and came out firing. They picked up a 7-2 victory over the Alberta team. The offense came from seven different sources for the Wings, with goals scored by Ty Mason, Daxin Peterson, Samuel Borschowa, Van Eger, Wyatt Godlonton, Quinn Mantei and Ryker Watt.

The final game of the round robin for the Wings was against SSAC Alberta Sportswear out of Edmonton. Again, the firepower of the Wings was on display as they routed their opponents 8-1. Wyatt LaCoste picked up a hat trick in the win, with Ryker Watt chipping in two more goals of his own. Ty Mason, Van Eger and Cooper Walbaum also found the back of the net in the game.

This advanced the Wings to the B-Side Final against the Lethbridge Bantam Hurricanes. The Wings again came out firing on all cylinders, and took the game by a 6-1 final. Walbaum, Borschowa, Mason, Watt, Eger and Peterson all scored for the Wings in the victory.
