The Bantam AA Crescent Point Wings held a 3-2 lead in the third period Wednesday night, but were unable to hang one, as the Yorkton Bantam Terriers won 6-3. The win gives the Terriers a 1-0 lead in the best of three quarterfinal series, which comes back to Weyburn Saturday afternoon.

The Wings opened the scoring just five minutes in, when Morgan Anderson scored, set up by Rylan Erb. The Terriers would reply just moments later, as Ryder Korczak scored, with Josh Peppler scoring just moments later to give Yorkton a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Wings would come back quickly in the middle frame, as Anderson scored his second of the game, with Riley Skarbon and Steven Kesslering credited with the assists. The power play marker would tie the game up, and set up an exciting finish in the third period.

Just three and a half minutes into the third, Jake Young took a feed from Chris Otterson, and put it in past Yorkton goalie Spencer Welke, putting Weyburn out front. The Terriers, who finished first in the SBAAHL South Division, rallied back with four unanswered. Korczak, along with Tanner Hoffman and Jackson Berezowski, each scored in the final ten minutes, with Austin Dycer scoring the game winner, as the Terriers came back to earn the victory.

Kobe Kmita stopped 31 of the 37 shots faced on the night, while Welke made 31 saves for the Terriers.

Game two is Saturday afternoon at the Tom Zandee Sports Arena in Weyburn.
