After a one year hiatus from the Big Six Hockey League, the Arcola/Kisbey Combines will be back on the ice to start the 2017/18 season.

A staple of the league for over 50 years, the team filed for a leave-of-absence mid-September in 2016, due to the lack of bodies.

"We didn't have a lot of local guys in town left," explained Lucas Hislop who is associated with the Combines. "This year some more guys have moved back and there are some kids out of high school that are sticking around ready to play. We figured we would give it another try."

"We have a couple of guys lined up to coach. It doesn't sound like any of the Yellowgrass guys are coming back that play years previously. We're starting fresh with more of a local base."

Hislop also mentioned he has already heard the excitement in the area.

"In the off season lots of community members asked if we were going to have a team back and we figured we would give it a go. There's been a pretty good buzz around the community already, hopefully we get the fans out again to pack the rink."

More details will follow the annual fall meeting at the end of the month.
