The Weyburn Humane Society is currently under an intake freeze, as they are at triple capacity.

In an effort to create room at the shelter, spayed or neutered cats can be adopted for $25 each.

“They have been at the shelter longer than 90 days. They are spayed, neutered and microchipped,” said Shelter Manager Colleen Morrice.  “So, if you are thinking of a cat this is a great time to get one.”

Morrice said while they aren’t accepting any animals at this time, they will help out if they find one in distress.

“If there's an animal on the road in distress, we will definitely go get it. It would be good if people could hold an animal if they find one, and keep it in their garage or something until the owner can come forward,” said Morrice. “Of course, we don't expect you to hold it overnight. We will come grab it and try to make it into the shelter somewhere, but right now we are really full and we even have a dog in the office, so we are really over capacity.”

The shelter also has an abundance of kittens can be adopted for $155 each.

“When you do get them spayed or neutered you will get a $100 reimbursement.”
