The school year has just begun, but the volleyball season is well underway at Weyburn Comprehensive School.
The Senior Boys Eagles have a tournament beginning Friday evening, with games at 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m., and then Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m., and 10:00 a.m., with playoffs at 12:00 p.m.
“The first week of school is kind of a flurry, but we get all our tryouts done all the way from junior and senior in the first week,” Head Coach Cory Olson said. “On the second day of school, I basically already had two tryouts and had picked the team. Our first practices started this week.”
Olson said they have three practices a week at the senior level.
"Every weekend until November 18th we're gone competing somewhere in a tournament. Thanksgiving is the only weekend that we have off, so we're pretty busy. Usually, we have overnight tournaments in small cities, Moose Jaw, Regina, Swift current.”
Olson encourages spectators to come to the tournament this weekend. It costs $3 for a day and $5 for the weekend.
“The more people we have out cheering on our teams, the better.”
