The U18 AA John Hulbert Construction Wings were at home Sunday evening, taking on the Prairie Storm. After a scoreless first period, the Wings turned up the heat, putting 43 shots on goal in the final two periods, skating to a 9-0 victory.  

Ryker Watt led the way for the Wings, finishing the game with a hat trick and a pair of assists. His first goal opened the floodgates for the Wings at the 4:24 mark of the second, assisted by Ryder Wesson. Ty Boren then scored an unassisted goal 37 seconds later to make it 2-0 Weyburn. 

Watt’s second of the game came at 7:05 of the middle period, assisted by Cooper Walbaum and Silas Stein. The trio would make it 4-0, this time with Walbaum being the goal scorer, with 6:44 to play in the second. 

Stein would then score to start things off in the third. His power play goal at the 8:57 mark was assisted by Walbaum and Watt. Nolan Zelyck then made it 6-0 with 5:28 left in the game, with Grier Peterson assisting. 

The Wings would finish off the game by scoring three goals in 1:16. The first tally of the final flurry came on the power play, as Greysen Goudy got onto the scoresheet with an unassisted power play goal. Andon Hoff then scored 24 seconds later. His goal was unassisted as well.  

The game finished up with Watt’s third of the night, assisted by Walbaum and Stein with 90 seconds left on the clock. 

Adam Charlton stopped all 16 of the shots he faced to record the shutout. 

With his five points, Watt pulled closer to the top of the scoring table. He is currently sitting in second with 34 goals and 24 assists so far this season. Right behind him is Walbaum with 15 goals and 37 assists on the year.  

The U18 AA Wings are currently sitting fourth in the SAAHL South Division, nine points back of the Regina Capitals who are currently in third place. The Wings will look to close that gap a bit on Wednesday when they travel to Lumsden to take on the Lumsden/Bethune Lions.
