The Soo Line Historical Museum and Heritage Village both open up for the season next Tuesday, May 23rd.

Leisure Services Manager with the City of Weyburn, Ryan Dale said they're training their museum staff now to give tours all summer long, and both of Weyburn's historical tourist attractions are staffed by summer students.

"We're hoping that we'll be seeing a lot of tourists and locals this year as well," he said.

Admission to the museum is free for children five and under, $2.50 for children six to 12, $3.50 for youth 13 to 17 as well as for seniors, and $5.50 for adults.

"We do offer group rates as well for groups 10 or more," Dale noted. "We will have guided tours ready to go, so we'll have staff ready to meet you there, who will take you on a tour through history."

The museum is located at 411 Riverfront Road, along Highway 39. They are open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and are closed Sunday and Monday.

Heritage Village is located at 430 10th Avenue southeast, and parking is available. They are open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and are closed Sunday and Monday.

Heritage Village Days are being planned for August 11th and 12th.

"We're looking to build off last year, which was an awesome success. We saw over 2,000 people come through the village over those two days," he shared.

Dale said they can always take more volunteers to help out with the big event.

"If anyone is looking to be a part of it this year and would like to help volunteer, please contact me. We've been so thankful for all the help of our volunteers over the years and to continue to put on this awesome event. We can definitely get you signed up."

He said while they will be aiming to bring all the same attractions as last year, they may add a couple of new ones.

"We may be unveiling some new programming down there this year as well, that we won't say too much about what that's going to be, but we look to build off of some of the haunted events from last year."

"We look forward to another awesome summer providing services to the City of Weyburn and tourists to visit our city. I know myself and our summer staff are ready to go and cannot wait for the opportunity."
