Some encouraging news for people waiting for surgeries in Saskatchewan.

Numbers released by the Saskatchewan Surgical Care Network show patients waiting for surgeries in our province continues to drop.

The numbers show that about 2 thousand 6 hundred fewer people were on waiting lists than one year ago.

The date states that 83 per cent of surgeries are completed within the first 6 months with 93 per cent done within one year.

The news isn't all that good for people waiting for orthopaedics, plastic, dental or ophthalmology, those surgeries are still the longest wait in the province.

The government plans to invest over 10 million dollars of targeted federal funding this year to make system improvements and reduce the number of patients who wait longer.
