The Salvation Army is bringing back their Summer Lunch Program for the kids, but this time they're doing it a little differently than in previous years.

"The Summer Lunch Program is geared towards kids, we set up July and August to serve lunches to kids in the Weyburn area," shared Shannon Fodchuk, a Community Ministry Worker at the Weyburn branch of the Salvation Army.

Fodchuk noted it's a really great program that helps feed at least 100 kids per day. In fact, this year they are even adding a few more days.

"Because of the success we've had in previous years, we were only running three days a week but this year we will be running five days a week."

They asked on Facebook about where they should set up again this year, and the majority came back as wanting the Souris School to be the location again.

Beginning July 4th, the Salvation Army will be handing out lunches Mondays through Fridays between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., with the last day being August 26th.

"The lunches consist of a sandwich, a vegetable, a fruit, a snack, and a drink," noted Fodchuk, adding with the additional days, they could use some help with sponsors and volunteers.

"They can just contact me at our office our number is (306)-842-2280 and if you have any questions or inquiries they can contact me and I'll give them that information."
