Weyburn Travelodge & Brothers Classic Grill recently had its annual golf tournament for charity.

Owner George Siourounis said they have been having this fundraiser since 2001, to raise money for different healthcare organizations.

“This year we decided to go for mental health because it's a big issue.”

The successful event raised a total of $21,480, half of which is going to Inclusion Weyburn, and the other half to Envision Counselling and Support Centre.

“It's going to help us with our summer camps,” said Inclusion Weyburn President, Jackie Wilson. “We have 23 children with intellectual disabilities attending camp this summer, along with their peers, and this mostly goes toward paying the staff. They work one on one with them and make it possible for these guys to attend camp with their friends.”

She added the support from those hosting the tournament, and the golfers who came out is overwhelming.

Envision Counselling and Support Centre coordinator, Raven Daer said this donation will help them keep their doors open.

“We have just continued to grow our programming,” said Daer. “We know that the need is there within our communities in the Southeast, so we are just going to keep doing what we're doing.”

She added Envision appreciates the support of everyone who came to the tournament and everyone who has supported them in the past.

$338,447 has been raised since 2001.
