Southeast farmers were busy over the past week.

Numbers from this week's Sask Ag and Food crop report show that 40 per cent of hay has been baled or put into silage with 27 per cent lying in the swath.

The quality of hay is expected to be in good to excellent.

Topsoil moisture in the southeast deteriorated slightly.

Last week 78 per cent of the topsoil moisture was adequate falling to 74 per cent this week.

After heat stress and drought, the main source of damage was wheat midge.

There were also reports of the diamondback moths and flea beetles in the southeast.
