Not enough to do over the holiday season, as some turn to vandalism in downtown Weyburn.

Several businesses reported mischief to their buildings including a financial institution that had an ATM damaged, as well as their windows and doors covered in a sticky substance.

“Sometime during the evening there was some vandalism,” Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype said. “It appeared to be some type of sticky substance, like possibly a shaving cream or whatever that was put on some business windows.”

VanDeSype said the incident appears to be mischief.

“There were some messages written in the vandalism, and it does appear to be more of just pure mischief vandalism versus trying to obtain any money or cause any theft.”

The investigation continues.
