All eyes were on Estevan yesterday with a visit from Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who reaffirmed his government's commitment to clean coal and carbon capture technology.

Harper says they are providing financial support with the Provincial Government and SaskPower.

The project will be one of the first and largest carbon capture and storage demonstrations in the world.

The Federal Government has alloted two-hundred and forty million dollars in its 2008 Budget for the project, with additional funding coming from the province and SaskPower.

The 1.4 billion dollar project will reduce Canada's greenhouse gas emissions by one million tonnes per year, while generating up to one-hundred megawatts of clean power.

Other dignitaries in attendance included Federal Natural Resources Minister Gary Lunn, Premier Brad Wall, and a number of members of the Saskatchewan Party caucus.
