The City of Weyburn is seeking 50 volunteers to plant trees for its annual Tatagwa Tree Day.

The event takes place on Saturday, August 6, beginning around 9:00 a.m.

The trees will be planted in an area north of River Park, between Highway 39 and Souris River, along the Signal Hill Trail.

“There will be approximately 135 coniferous and deciduous trees to be planted in various spaces,” said Parks Manager for the City of Weyburn, Curtis Block. “We will show everybody how to plant the trees. There will be a barbecue, hot dogs and refreshments as well as lots of prizes.”

The event is funded by Sask Lotteries through the Association of Saskatchewan Urban Parks and Conservation Agencies.

Anyone interested in planting trees can call 306-848-3290, or email cblock@weyburn.ca or tcherlet@weyburn.ca by August 3.
