The Weyburn Salvation Army will be concluding the free school lunches this Friday.

All throughout this summer, they made 100 lunches for children per day, with this being the first year they gave out lunches five days a week.

"We had a total of 3,900 lunches for the summer," shared Community Ministries Worker, Shannon Fodchuk.

She said they had help every weekday all summer.

"It was fully sponsored by different companies throughout the summer," she noted. "So every day we had volunteers come out, which was amazing because we would not be able to do it without our volunteers and our sponsors."

The sponsors this year were Steel Reef, Whitecap Resources, C&D Electric, the St.Onge Family, Grace United Church, NSWB Law Firm, YF Wives, Rita Coghill, Awaken Skin Spa, the Domesticated Caker, Low Brow BBQ, and Baa Baa Pizza.

The variety of what was in the lunches included Subway sandwiches, pizza buns, regular sandwiches, hot dogs, and hamburgers.

This Thursday and Friday will be the last two days they will be set up at the south gate of Souris School, between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
