Vilcu's Academy of Martial Arts will be hosting their 38th annual International Martial Arts Championship Tournament tomorrow, March 25th at Weyburn Comprehensive School Eagles Gym at 10:00 a.m.

"We have around 200 competitors coming from 21 clubs," shared Robyn Vilcu. "It runs all day, with a canteen, and silent auction. We have many local and long-distance sponsors and donators such as [Prairie Sky] Coop donating food items for the canteen as well as Mr. Sub donating for the free lunch for our judges and volunteers!"

Competitors will be coming to Weyburn from Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the northern United States.

The proceeds will be going towards the club's Travel Fund, which helps fund out-of-town tournament registrations for our students, as well as training equipment.

Spectators are welcome for a $10 admission per person, free for children six and under.

"We will have demonstrations following the opening ceremony," added Vilcu. "This will be our biggest turnout in many, many years."

Events will include U18 Grand champion, Colored Belt Grand Champion, Black Belt Kata Grand Champion, Black Belt Woman's Sparring Grand Champion, Black Belt Men's Sparring Grand Champion, and Overall Black Belt Grand Champion.
