Prices for feed barley are continuing to fall, but there's still a good premium for Malting Barley, according to the Canadian Wheat Board's mid-month Pool Return Outlook.

Saskatchewan Two-row barley values stayed at 348-a-tonne or around 6.20-a-bushel.

CWB Barley Marketing Manager Bob Cuthbert says a high percentage of the barley harvested before the rains were selectable for malting.

Cuthbert says some of the barley that received rains when it was at the ripened stage may have some germination issues.

Cuthbert is confident they will be able to select 2.5 million tonnes of malting barley this season.

Cuthbert says the latest Stats Canada report showed a barley volume of 10.8 million tonnes in Canada, but some in the industry believe that number could be higher because of larger yields.
