Thanks to a continuous decline in workplace injury rates, and the length of time injured workers have spent on compensation, the Saskatchewan Workers Compensation Board has announced a proposal to reduce its average premium rate.

CEO Peter Federko says they are proposing a a reduction of 8.2% which would mean it would go down from 1.84$ to 1.69$ for next year.

Federko adds the decrease will continue to ensure Saskatchewan's premiums remain competitive with the other western provinces.

After review and approval by WCB Board Members, the final rates will become effective January 1st.
