It's the time of year when producers are renewing or making land rental contracts.

Richard Wharton, Production Economics Specialist with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture says there are two main choices for land rental contracts.

They include a crop share arrangement and the more common, cash rental.

Wharton adding when making a land rental contract, the landowner and the operator need to be fairly compensated for what they contribute.

Wharton says people should make sure the contracts are not complex and benefit both parties involved.
