There’s an opportunity to attend a public tour of the Weyburn Art Gallery and vote for your favorite pieces in the James Weir Exhibit.

Curator Regan Lanning will be leading the tour on Tuesday, February 8 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

“People can come and spend their lunch hour with me and we will look at all of the pieces in the James Weir people’s choice and discuss them from a pop culture, or a local standpoint,” Lanning said. “We will also discuss things like what makes a piece of art successful, and at the end of the tour people are invited to vote, and if we have time and they have questions about the new facilities I can share all that with them.”

Lanning said there may be more of these tours in the future.

“We'll possibly look at doing another one next month and I'm looking at possibly having these be a regular occurrence with new exhibitions in the gallery.”

Anyone wanting to book a private tour with their community group can contact the Weyburn Arts Council over Facebook.

If you want to vote for your favorite pieces in the James Weir Exhibit but can’t make it to the gallery by March 18, you can do it online by clicking here.

“Last year people from 29 countries around the world voted in the James Weir People’s Choice via our online voting options.”

It is unknown yet if the award presentation will take place in-person.
